One safety check before you can talk. These ten words must be identical on both screens.

Read them aloud to each other on a phone call. Hearing their voice say the same ten words is the check: it confirms who they are, and that no one is sitting in the middle of this conversation.

Don't paste the words into the same app you sent the link through. If anything were intercepting that channel, it could fake this too — which is exactly what this check exists to catch.

How do we know it's private?

Your messages are encrypted on your device and only decrypted on your friend's — the server in the middle carries scrambled data it cannot read. That part isn't a promise: turn on the security panel above and you'll watch it happen live as you type, your words on one line, the encrypted gibberish the server receives on the next. We also keep nothing — no message history, no logs of what you say. That part you can't watch from here, so we don't ask you to take it on faith either: the code is open source, and anyone can inspect it or run their own relay.
